2 Months

Today is Cole's 2 month birthday!  If we thought he was a big boy last month, he is an even bigger butterball now!  Jeff & I went to his appointment this morning and were both anxious to see how much he had gained since last month.  He is quite the eater but his doctor said that since his height & weight were proportional, she was not worried about it.  He still has a tiny head- 25%, length is 24.5in- 93% and weight is 14.6 lbs- 95%!  Overall, he is a great baby and only cries when he is hungry or tired.  He still does not sleep much during the day; he cat naps and sometimes has a 1-2 hour nap.  He has started having 4-5 hour stretches of sleep during the night which is really nice!  He is so happy in the morning time and loves to be talked to.  He lights up when he sees any of us, especially Cameron, and that makes her so excited!

Also at his appointment, his doctor noticed that although Cole is quite active, his breathing is more rapid than it should be.  She said he could possibly be aspirated, which basically means that when he drinks a bottle, the formula is getting into his lungs.  Babies outgrow this but he could be more susceptible to getting pneumonia, which would be terrible at his age.  She ordered us to go straight to an imaging center and have a chest x-ray done to see if there was anything alarming.  I received a call tonight that the x-ray came back just fine, so that was a relief!  In addition to the x-ray, we are having a feeding study done Thursday morning.  The doctor will put a dye in his formula which will allow them to track exactly where it goes and see if it is getting in his lungs.  Other than thickening up his formula with rice cereal, there is not much that we can do until he grows out of this.  We hope it happens soon!

Bragging

Cameron has been a very busy girl lately.  She has already completed her first six weeks of school and is really loving it.  She talks quite a bit about her new friends and what she gets to do in her art, science, computer & p.e. classes.  She gets a new book from the library every Thursday and has come home with some pretty interesting picks.  Twice already she has been the all-star in p.e. class!  She says it is for paying attention, listening and following directions.  There is a career technology center behind her school and they have new computer software programs they are testing.  Cameron's teacher nominated her to be one of the 27 students from her school to go test it out and she told us she had a great time.  Her biggest accomplishment yet is that she was the Elite Eagle for the first six weeks of school!  We aren't too sure what exactly it means, but we do know she was the only one of about 90 kindergartners to receive it!  We are beyond proud of her and love seeing how much she enjoys school.

This is the link to her picture in the school newsletter.  I couldn't copy just the picture for some reason...

One a non-academic note, Cameron scored her first goal on Saturday!!!  When it happened she didn't act as excited as I thought she would...I guess she was trying to be cool about it.  But she was very excited about it after the game!  Katie, Sue & Papa John got to witness her first goal and I know that was fun for her.  Jeff had told Cameron that every time she scored a goal, she would get a dollar but since this was her first, she got a whopping five dollars!  After the game, we all went to Cracker Barrel and she used her money to buy a new toy, of course :)

One month

Cole turned a month old on the 9th and we can't believe how fast time is going by!  He has his bad days, like most babies, but is such a sweet boy.  To say that he likes to eat is an understatement.....he has gained almost 3 pounds since he was born!  While in the hospital, you could see his neck....not so much anymore!  He has chipmunk cheeks :)  At his one month appointment, he weighed 10.7lbs (55th%) and his length is 22in (70th%).  He has started smiling more while he is awake and definitely recognizes his mommy, daddy & sister.  He becomes very alert when he hears his sister's voice and usually turns his head in her direction.  Cameron is still such a big help to us...running around to get diapers, bibs, etc.  Lately, she has been telling Cole how cute & sweet he is!  Jeff and I are blessed to have such sweet kiddos!

2 week appointment

Yesterday Cole had his two week appointment.  He is technically about 2 1/2 weeks but who's counting?! :)  When we left the hospital, his weight had dropped down to 7lbs 1oz; however, he has more than made up for it!  He is now 9lbs 2oz and 21 1/8 inches long....such a big boy!!  He has been eating like crazy, but we did not anticipate that he would gain almost 2 lbs in such a short time.  Both his height and weight are in the 50th percentile and his head is 25%.  He is still a pretty good baby and changing daily.  Cameron loves to give him kisses all the time and talks to him a lot!  He has become more alert these past few days and makes the funniest faces when he sleeps.  He smiles quite a bit but we haven't been able to get many pics of that just yet.

Jeff is leaving today for a business trip and I'm not sure how things are going to go here!  This is the first time he has left since Cole was born.  I have pretty much been on baby duty since we came home and he has been running around doing everything for Cameron, making dinners, grocery shopping, etc.  Now I'll be doing all those things on top of everything a newborn requires and taking and picking Cameron up from school, gymnastics & soccer practice.  Guess I should get used to it.....but I'm hoping Friday comes REALLY fast! :)

This pic wouldn't stay upright for some reason....right before heading to the doctor!

Cole Jeffrey- 9/9/10, 7lbs 8oz, 3:23 pm

Here are some long awaited pictures of our little man! Although the last part of my labor was miserable, to say the least, Cole has been such a great baby & we can't believe he is finally here!

We have successfully made it through the first week & a half (which has been a blur of feedings & diaper changes) and he has already changed so much. Appearance wise, he is starting to fill out more because he is SUCH a piggy! All he wants to do is eat, eat, eat! Typical boy, I guess :). He is pretty calm for the most part & only cries when he is hungry. Don't get me wrong, we have had a few rough moments, but that is to be expected.

Cameron is just smitten with her little brother and is really enjoying her role as a big sister. She runs in from school every afternoon and has to know where Cole is and what he has been doing all day! She has been such a big help...we'll see how many favors we can get out of her :)

In between all the madness, we celebrated Jeff's birthday on the 16th!  We didn't do much this year since we have a newborn but his present was delivered on time and we had a nice dinner at home!  Happy birthday, Daddy!  We love you!

And now for a million pictures...

Welcome to the world, Cole!
