Caroline & Storytime Live

About a week ago, Jeff was suckered into buying 60 pieces of meat, mostly different cuts of steak, by a salesman who came by our house. We figured we would try it out on Saturday night, so in addition to Sue, Justin, Brennon & the three girls, we invited Wes, Beth & Caroline over! We haven't seen them in a few months & Caroline has really grown since then. The girls loved playing with her & I think she probably hasn't been around any girls as wild as ours!

On Sunday, all the girls went to Storytime Live in Grand Prairie to see Ni Hao Kai Lan, Backyardigans, Wonder Pets & Dora. My mom, sister & kids are out of town, so we were happy to have Dylan & Savannah join us! We didn't get to take any pictures of the show because it wasn't allowed but the girls had a blast! We had really great seats...right in the middle of the stage & about 15 rows up! Thanks for the tickets, Mom!!

1st Soccer Game!

We have had quite a few firsts this week....but I really think Cameron was most excited about her first game! There were several games already in full swing when we arrived & I think Cameron was one of the first from her team to arrive. She & Jeff played around a little before the rest of her team got together to warm up. They all looked SO cute in their uniforms! Especially #23! They don't officially take score but let's just saw we didn't win! I believe the final score was 6-2. We think the Mustangs had probably played together before as 4 year olds because they had a good idea of what was going on. Cameron got to be the team captain and start the game today! She wasn't very aggressive and mostly ran with the pack, but it was her first game afterall. It was very entertaining to say the least & I think the girls were all ready for the game to be over so they could get snacks!

When we got in the car, Jeff & I started telling her all these things she needed to work on for the next game....like being aggressive, not worrying about getting kicked or falling, keeping her eye on the ball, etc....and after a few minutes, she had totally tuned us out. Haha! I think with both of us having grown up playing sports & being so competitive, we had the same expectations for Cameron. For her, it's all fun & games.....and rightly so. We have to remember she's only 5 :)

First Week

Cameron officially made it through her first week of Kindergarten!!  She was pretty wore out on Friday night but I think she really had a great time this week.  On Monday, Jeff left for Oklahoma so Sue & I picked her up from school.  When she saw my car, she came running over with a look on her face like "thank goodness this day is over!"  We questioned her to no end & I think she was put out with us because she finally said she had a bad day & didn't want to answer any more questions!  Haha!  Sue picked her up the rest of the week while Jeff & I worked and said she ran out to the car everyday!  We are very lucky to have Sue here this week & next week to help us until Jeff stops traveling & I have baby boy.  Thank you, Sue!!

We were able to get small amounts of information from her throughout the week about things she had done....went to music class one day & crashed the symbols, drew lots of pictures in art class, played with babies in the home center, got to see her friend Avery several times in the hall, cafeteria & at recess, etc.  We also found out that by Tuesday she had her name on a locker...woohoo!  She said that when they are in the halls, they have to be very quiet & that at lunch time they sit boy girl boy girl.  The only names of kids in her class that she can recall right now are Lauren, Jacob, Camren & Campbell......who is her new bff, so she says. :)  I think she really likes her teacher & we have high hopes for a great year.  We have parent orientation this coming week & I'm excited to get more information on how to become involved with school activities.

And just because it's too funny not to share.........earlier this week, Cameron put her kitty Ruby under her nightgown, went & laid on Jeff's lap and told him to "take the baby out...it's ready to be born!"  You should have seen the look on his face!  Priceless!  She likes to pretend she's pregnant lately.  Later that night, she told Sue that she had to be in the room when her brother was born because she just HAD to see how he comes out!  HA!!  Obviously we are not going to allow that......she is such a wild child! :)

1st day of Kindergarten!

This day has been a long time coming & I still wasn't prepared for how sad I would be that Cameron is starting school!  She is such a big girl now and we will have a new "baby" soon.  She has been very excited about starting school, especially with all the new things we have bought over the past few months.  I'm pretty sure her backpack/lunch box are her two favorites!  This morning started off very early for me....it's almost like I was the one going to school...I was wide awake at 4:45!!  As Jeff went to wake Cameron up, I finished making her lunch and started on her pancakes.  They are by far her favorite breakfast food & I usually make them for her every Saturday morning, so it was only right that she get them on her first day of school!  After she ate, we brushed her teeth, got her dressed & of course, got in a little iPad action before we took pictures.  We thought she was addicted to our iPhones before & now the obsession has moved on to the iPad!  She wasn't very excited to take pictures but we got some cute ones before we headed to school.  She did really great walking into school...we saw Avery as we walked in.....and to her classroom.  That's when it all went downhill!  There are lockers in her room that each had two names on them.  Well guess who didn't have her name on a locker?!!  Yep, Cameron!  There is another kid in the class named Camren, so we figured her teacher just got confused.  So much for a great first impression, teacher! :)  That was our first issue, but the teacher quickly found a locker for her to share with another girl who didn't have a name tag either.  Hopefully that will be resolved by tomorrow!  Once we got her stuff put away, she sat down at a table by another girl and seemed okay but when we started hugging her & saying our goodbyes, she clung to both Jeff & me for dear life.  Poor thing did not want us to leave at all!  I gave her about 5 hugs & when she started to tear up, I had to leave or I was going to lose it.  Jeff was able to get her back to her seat & we left quickly to keep from making things worse.  Talk about the worst feeling!  I think once she realized that she didn't really know anyone in her class, had a new teacher & school to get used to, she fell apart.  I have no doubt that picking her up will be a much better experience!  Hopefully tomorrow morning will go more smoothly.

Poor girl...her skirt looks a little hiked up! Ha!  We couldn't get her to stand up straight!
Jeff looks like he is throwing up gang signs or something!
Trying hard not to tip over!

Sue came in town yesterday to help with picking up Cameron from school.  We are lucky to have her help these next two weeks!
Getting ready to head out for Independence Elementary!
Walking down the hall to her classroom!

I'm sure I'll be worried all day about her finding the bathroom or opening her water bottle at lunch, etc, but she's a smart, brave girl & I know she'll have a great first day!  Can't wait to pick her up this afternoon & hear all about it!  More kindergarten adventures to come.....

3 weeks until baby boy makes his debut....hopefully less :)

Bunny & More Soccer

Last weekend I decided to wash some of the stuffed animals that Cameron plays with quite a bit.  They were all due for a good wash!  Unfortunately, Bunny, who already had no ears, came out of the washer with more injuries.

The hole we discovered on her back

Needless to say, Bunny has been put back together again and is recovering nicely. :)

And here are more soccer pictures from her last practice.  Her first game is this Saturday morning & we are all very excited to see how it plays out.  Jeff asked Cameron if her team was ready for the game & she said that they aren't very good right now! HA!  I'm sure it will take a while for them to figure out what's going on...should be very entertaining for the parents!

Getting ready to scrimmage...she is the tallest on the team!

Daycare

This will be a really quick post.  This is Cameron's last week at daycare, which she is both excited & sad about........however, it also means we made our LAST daycare payment!!  WOOHOO!  It's like getting a raise after 4 1/2 years.  Although we loved Kindercare, we are happy to keep our money :)

Galaxy Girls

Cameron's soccer team had their first practice last night and it was HOT! As we drove there, she told me she was a little nervous but was excited to make 8 new friends! She said she wasn't going to be shy and would talk to everyone! :)

When we pulled up, Cameron immediately spotted one of her Kindercare friends, Lauren, and they ran & hugged each other with excitement! It's nice that she already knows one girl on the team. The coach and his wife were really nice, as well as the parents that I talked to. I found out that one of the girls on the team will be going to the same school as Cameron, so maybe they will have the same teacher.

I was able to find some shade to sit in but poor Cameron was so hot & sweaty by the time we left. Although they were having fun playing games and running around, every girl was ready to leave when practice was over. When we got home, Cameron had a snack, took a bath and immediately passed out! She has had a busy two days between gymnastics & soccer. Soon we will be adding school in the mix! Although super pregnant, I'm actually excited to be busy & running all over these days....especially since it involves sports. Jeff & I are starting to get a taste of what our parents went through all those years!

Back in business!

We have been having many issues with our camera for some time now....we charge it all day but it shuts off after 5 minutes, or we take a few pictures and it turns off for no reason. Our latest issue is that it completely freezes up the laptop when I try to download pictures, so we decided to finally get a new one! Cameron & I went to Best Buy tonight and bought a new Cannon PowerShot. It is charging now, so I haven't had a chance to play with it, but we should have pictures tomorrow! Woohoo!!

On a side note, Cameron's first soccer practice is tomorrow and she is ecstatic! She'll have 8 new friends after tomorrow night. And because every parent likes to brag on their child.....Cameron's gymnastics teacher has been really impressed the past few weeks with how well she is doing in class & asked us to bring her to a different class that is on Thursday night's to see how she likes it/can handle it. It is a level 3 class with older girls who are doing more advanced things than she is now in her 5-6 year old class. She's a little intimidated but we will check it out. Her normal class is only an hour and this one is over 2 hours! We get busier everyday!! More on that next week....

5 more weeks until baby boy arrives! :)

Happy Birthday, Mimi!

This weekend we met my parents, sister & kids for lunch to celebrate my mom's birthday. We won't say how young you are, Mom! :) We had a great time & when everyone was done eating, the kids all scarfed down pazookies! You would have thought it was their birthdays! After we ate, the boys went to get hair cuts & the girls went to the Justice store. They both got new outfits and purses. I think they tried out every purse in the store before deciding on the same one! I got a few pictures but our camera refuses to cooperate and let me upload them. I'll have to try another day.

***I finally got the pictures to load!

Random things

About a week ago, I got an email from the soccer association where Cameron is signed up that said if no one volunteered to coach, they would not be able to field a team. Of course we didn't tell Cameron this but we were pretty concerned. She would be devastated if she didn't get to play because she has been so excited about it for months now! Thankfully, we were told today that they found a coach and her team is the Galaxy Girls! She wasn't too thrilled with the name but said 'she would get used to it'....haha!! She has her first scrimmage the week that school starts and then her first game that same weekend. We can't wait!

Also today, Cameron got a very fun package in the mail.......her new backpack! She got to pick it out herself from Pottery Barn & my mom ordered it for her. She put it on & ran around the house yelling school, school, school! Now we have to get the matching lunch box & she is pretty much set for Kindergarten!

And finally, we met Justin & Brennon for dinner at Rosa's on Saturday. It was so good...we definitely ate too much! We had a few pretty princess visit our home that night.....
